Product Details
When baking, the wrong combination of tools and ingredients can be disastrous. This 17-3/4" x 12-7/8" Half-Size Sheet Pan - 13 Gauge - Wear-Ever® (5314) from Vollrath combines a sturdy build and high quality aluminum to deliver consistent results. Dents in pans can create hot spots, causing dough to cook unevenly. Built from 13 gauge, 3004 aluminum, this pan is dent and hot spot-resistant and the tapered design makes for easy stacking. The concave bottom of the pan flattens out during heating for optimal heat distribution.

"A very good, sturdy pan. It is made of heavy-gauge aluminum but it is still lightweight and it has yet to warp in the oven. So far it has "lived-up" to expectations, especially when broiling food and the pan is very close to the flame (gas oven). Hand washing is recommended, for they will discolor very badly if washed in the dishwasher. I learned this the hard way with the quarter size sheet pans. I wish I had known about this the first time. Hand washing them is however very easy."

"This is an excellent cookie sheet! The gauge is heavy and so far there has been no warping. However, the undersides of the rolled edges are razor sharp and I would not have ordered this product had I really known that. Each edge of the 13 gauge metal is extremely dangerous. When you take the sheet out of the oven you will have to have on an oven mitt, otherwise, all touching will be barehanded. "

These are solid aluminum which is FAR superior to coated aluminum pans sold by other vendors. Coated aluminum pans are not dishwasher safe, the coating comes off; but, these are which was a huge plus for me. Cooking with them is very easy. They heat evenly, clean easily, do not warp when heated, and as mentioned above, are absolutely dishwasher safe. And shipping is VERY fast. "

Forgot to spray "pam" or use parchment paper when baking cho. chip cookies, but fortunately we got them off they pan as soon as they came out of the oven. (Sooner than we normally would, but they didn't stick!) In any event, ALL our different types of cookies baked up beautifully. The correct amount of browning around the edges, crispy when they should be crispy. Soft baked when they should be soft baked. Almost like the pan KNOWS how to cook the cookies."

"I bought the 1/2 size sheet pan after reading a review from "Cook's illustrated". Mainly I was looking for a sheet pan that would not warp or buckle in the oven. I'm not too shot in the fanny with this one. Altho it is 18 gauge, it warped the first time I used it. Will continue my quest."

"I was pleased with the quality of the half sheet baking pans I ordered. When I used them, with a rack to bake bacon, I found them to be sturdy, and easy to clean. I purchased these based on a review in Cooks Illustrated, as I believe this organization provides sound advice for kitchen equipment. The pans were exactly as described in the magazine review. "

"Nice and heavy pans, but edges would be better if they were rolled; the edges feel a bit rough and it seems like I could cut my hand on them (although I have not yet done so). The finish discolored the first time I washed them in the dishwasher. I am not sure if I should not have put them in, but anyway the pans still work fine."

"They are very sturdy pans. I do a lot of baking during the holidays; pies and cookies. I bought these because I've had bad luck with pans warping while cooking pies and spilling all over the pan and oven. Plus they were recommended on the PBS cooking show "Cook's Country". These pans surpassed all expectations. "

"This product was rated the best baking sheet by America's Test Kitchen, and they tested it thisaway and thataway. It's a very sturdy, thick metal sheet that won't warp in the oven. Furthermore it's got a useful size advantage over some of our old baking sheets. It's about an inch longer and an inch wider. Still fits in the oven, of course, but that extra inch makes for, gee, about 24 additional square inches of surface? Handy."
