Manitowoc is leading the ice machine industry
when it comes to producing energy efficient
machines.
In 2003, they lead the way with their S-Series of ice machines that were an average of 25% more energy efficient than the competition. Manitowoc's EnergyMizer program provides customers with energy efficient ice machines that perform to Manitowoc’s highest standard.
Because of Manitowoc's early commitment to
the environment and energy efficiency, many
of their ice machines have qualified to become
ENERGY STAR models. In order to qualify,
these models must be at least 15% more
efficient with both energy and water
consumption than standard ice machine units.
Manitowoc's dedication to the environment
does not stop with energy efficiency. They
recently completed research on the ecological
impact of the foaming agent that was used to
insulate most industry ice machines. Based on
the findings from that research, Manitowoc
discovered a water-based foaming agent that is
considered to be completely non-toxic and
non-flammable. This foaming agent is now being used
in all Manitowoc Ice Machines and Ice Storage bins.
In the mid-1960s, Manitowoc entered the food service equipment marketplace and in 1968, it patented a breakthrough evaporator that made it the leader in the US ice-making industry. Manitowoc was the first ice machine company to offer two and three year warranties as well the first to convert to convert to alternative refrigerants. They were also the first manufacturer to develop an automatic ice machine cleaning system. Today, they are America’s #1 selling ice machine.
