Proper Installation is Crucial

Properly installing an ice machine is the first step to assuring years of trouble-free service. All ice machines will come with an installation manual, but Manitowoc has some installation notes on their spec sheets, so owners know what is required beforehand. For example, the SD-18003W requires 8" of clearance on the sides and 5" on the back. Though it is a water-cooled machine, there still needs to be a little airflow. Also, you will need a floor drain nearby, to give a place for cooling water, bin-melt and excess water from the making process to go. As a final consideration, install water filtration on the line feeding the machine, because filtered water produces the best ice and increases the reliability of your machine.
