There are a few reasons why solid shelves are great choices for food service applications. Since they are solid and flat, storing any number of items works just fine on these shelves—there are no worries that some items could slip through the rails or get stuck in the wires. Solid shelves are also easy to clean and maintain, great for the busy restaurant environment. Solid metal shelves like these are perfect for replacement shelves if any shelves in your shelving unit get damaged. These are also good options for operators who wish to add extra shelves to their existing shelving units. The downside to solid metal shelves like this is that they do not “breathe” as well as rail shelves or wire shelves. Air will not circulate as well with these shelves, so they are best for dry storage applications where air flow is not as critical as it is with cold-storage.
