Mechanical Portion Control Scales

Our mechanical portion control scales have large, easy to read dial gauges that accurately measure to within a few ounces. Be sure to adjust the alignment notch so the scale reads zero before measuring. To zero out a mechanical scale, there is typically a knob that needs to be rotated until the dial is pointing right at zero. This should be done daily, if not more, depending on how much use the scale gets throughout the day. Every morning, the scale should be calibrated to ensure proper weighing is taking place.

For processes that require accurate measurements within a hundredth of an ounce, a mechanical portion control scale is not the best investment, but they are a good addition to the produce section of a grocery store. Add a few mechanical scales at the ends of aisles for customers to measure the contents of their bags. This is also a good idea in bulk grains and nuts sections as well. When customers are able to get exactly the quantity they need, they feel empowered and leave the store feeling much more positive.
