Immersion Blenders

Home > Kitchen > Food Prep Supplies > Immersion Blenders
Immersion blenders are a great way to make soups and salsas in the container of your choosing. These blenders are unique from processors or free standing blenders in that the food that is being blended does not need to be put in a special container. The wand blender, as it is sometimes called, is immersed into whatever container the food has been prepared in. Some models can even be used while the food is simmering on the stove.

Immersion blenders are known and loved by professional and novice cooks alike because they can go where regular food processors cannot. They let cooks think outside the blender bowl when it comes to blending dishes. The best use of an immersion blender is during the preparation of soups that need to be pureed after they have been simmering on the stove top for hours. Ladling out soup stock bit by bit can be an arduous process and the risk of burning oneself on the hot broth is fairly high.

These handheld blenders completely get rid of that step since they can puree the soup stock right in the pan. Simply turn the heat off, plug the blender in and submerge it in the pot, making sure not to turn the device on until it is fully submerged. Once in the stock, move the mixer around quite a bit to ensure that all the bits and pieces in the soup mixture are perfectly pureed. Since it is quite near impossible to see exactly where the blender’s head is, it is recommended that no other mixing utensil, such as a spoon, be put in while the mixer is going.
