Walk-in freezers provide large amounts of storage space for foodservice establishments that have a lot of frozen goods. These units can be either custom-built or pre-manufactured. Whether custom-made or prefab, you will want to consider the overall dimensions, floor type and whether it will be used for indoors or outdoors. Walk-in freezers that will be placed outside will need a special housing over the compressor to protect it from the elements. The exterior itself will also have additional coatings of either paint or epoxy to keep the metal from rusting.
If you want an indoor unit, be sure you take very precise measurements of the available space and keep in mind that the insulation is about 4” think on each side, so you will have to account for this when calculating the amount of storage space you need in the unit. Units can also com with or without a floor. Built-in floors usually consist of a skid-resistant metal, like aluminum. If you want to put down a custom tiled floor, be sure to select a walk-in without on already included.
