Spiral Peelers

Spiral peelers are used to create curly, ribbon-like slices of fruits or vegetables. Each individual model usually comes with several blades that create slices of various thicknesses. The final curled product can be used as garnishing, for coleslaw or to weave decorative mats that are also edible. The food items are held in place by a prongs on the turning wheel. The wheel is then turned by a hand-operated crank. The operator will also have to press forward while turning the handle in order to force the food through the blade. Depending on the model you select, either two or three blades will be included, with the thickest cut size available being a quarter of an inch. You will want to double check the overall dimensions of the unit to make sure you have enough countertop space available.
