Remote Flake Ice Machines

Sports teams and hospitals use flake ice for therapeutic wraps. Each bag is usually filled with two to four pounds of ice, so when determining 24 hour yield requirements, multiply the expected number of ice wraps used every day by four. Cocktail bars will use anywhere from one to two pounds of ice per person per day. For grocery stores that use ice for seafood or meat displays, the amount needed every day depends on the size of the display.

The condenser for remote flake ice machines is located outside, with the actual maker being inside. The two units are connected with copper refrigeration lines, and the further away the machine is from the condenser, the more expensive the unit will be. It is important that the condenser is as close to the machine as possible to minimize purchase and installation costs and maintain unit efficiency. If the condenser is too far away, it will not be able to pump the refrigerant through the lines.
