Countertop onion slicers can slice or bloom onions about three times faster than simply using a knife and board. Consider how thick you want your onion slices to be as well as how much countertop space you have available when looking. Onion slicers can create anywhere from 3/16” up to ½” thick onion slices. They operate by a pull down lever-type handle that pushes the onion through the evenly spaced cutting blades. The units also have rubber caps on the feet to prevent them from sliding around the tabletop. If your establishment offers onion flowers, or onion blooms, there are also models available that will “bloom” an onion but not slice completely through it, so your employees are still able to bread and fry the bloom.
