Soak these wooden planks for three to four hours before you cook with them. This will prevent the planks from burning over the open flame. Instead, the wood will smolder and add a smoky flavor to the dish. Use the planks for grilling or charbroiling over an open flame. The flames will lick the wood and it will smoke slowly. These planks are for one-time use only. When your food is finished cooking, transfer it from the plank to a serving dish and throw out the wood. Use a fresh plank for the next dish.
