Glass Door Freezers

Glass door freezers can be placed either in the front- or back-of-house. Where you intend to place the unit may be a determining factor in a few key specifications, like swinging or sliding doors. You will also want to consider the compressor location.

Glass door freezers can have either swinging or sliding doors. If you want to place it up front as a merchandiser (without the fancy signage) sliding doors are ideal because the contents can be easily accessed without disrupting the flow of customer and/or worker traffic. If you do select one with swinging doors, make sure the door swing (swinging open to the left, or to the right) is conducive to easy access.

The units can have either top- or bottom-mounted compressor as well, though compressor location is usually uniform throughout a given brand. Top-mounted compressors have the benefit of increased efficiency because hot air given off by the compressor does not drift into the cabinet, as it can with bottom-mounted units. However, glass door freezers with bottom-mounted compressors can potentially decrease strain and sprain injuries because customers and workers do not have to bend over as far to reach the bottom shelf.
