Countertop ice dispensers are ideal for employee break rooms and only have enough chute clearance to dispense into cups. However, unlike the full-size models, there are several countertop dispensers that actually make their own ice and have several other advanced features as well.

Countertop ice dispensers that do not make their own ice will need either a maker mounted on top or have their ice supply regularly replenished by employees. An alternative is to use a machine that makes and dispenses ice. Several of the makers/dispensers also have a separate water line so operators can fill up their glasses with ice and water all at one place.

You will also want to consider the method of dispensing. Some models have a standard push-back lever that opens the chute, but more advanced models use electronic sensors to dispense without the glass contacting the chute lip. This is a preferred option for any establishment that wants to reduce the risk of bacterial cross-contamination.
