Stand-up commercial refrigerators can have either glass, solid or mixed doors. Glass door units can be used for storage or merchandising with either swinging or sliding doors, but they tend to be less energy-efficient than solid doors. Solid door models are used for storage only and should be placed in a cool area of the kitchen to keep energy bills in check. Mixed door models can display items on top and store additional products underneath.
Shorter commercial refrigerators are also available for restaurants with space constraints or those that need a diverse piece of equipment. Undercounter units easily fit under standard height countertops, and worktop models combine a working-height food-safe surface with a storage refrigerator.
