The chopper blade is actually a grid where the openings are the size of the intended pieces; size ranges from ¼” to 1.” Since the blade segments are so small, they cannot be re-sharpened, so once they starts to go dull, a replacement blade is required. You can tell when the blade is going dull by how it performs and the product it produces. If the chopping becomes overly difficult, or if the product comes through bruised or mushy-feeling, the blades are dulling down, and rather than slicing, they are smashing the product through.
