- Commercial Disposable Dinnerware
When reusable dinnerware is not an option, consider the many types of disposable dinnerware available including paper, styrofoam, plastic and bioplastic.
Disposable plates are not for everyone. In fact, it would be taboo to use disposable dinnerware in most sit-down dining or fine dining restaurants. Sometimes, however, smaller establishments embrace the use of disposables. Beach-side burger joints, coffee shops and other eateries might use disposables to lessen their expense at broken or chipped plates, or because they do not have the means to wash large quantities of dishes.
When choosing disposable plates, consider the type of food you will be serving. For home use, this may not be as important, although again it depends on the food being served. Heavy, sloppy barbeque sandwiches will require a more heavy-duty material than something like donuts or small pieces of cake. Some materials have benefits like being microwave safe or more economical, so take a look at all your options before making a decision one way or the other.
