Biodegradable Plates

The biggest concern when buying disposable plates is whether or not they will be sturdy enough to withstand heavy, hot or wet foods. Well, you do not need to buy foam or heavy plastic plates anymore. Instead, look for bagasse, bamboo or corn plastic plates. These bad boys will hold up to anything you throw at them, as long as that does not involve prolonged exposure to heat or moisture. Take them to a commercial composting facility when you are finished, or simply throw them in the garbage. They will still take quite a while to break down, but they will do it in a less chemically-harmful fashion.
