Aluminum Foil
Sort By:
Many people use aluminum foil for a hot cooking surface, such as for baking cookies or covering a hot casserole dish while it is cooking in the oven. Aluminum works as a great insulator without absorbing heat, so that it is cool to the touch in a matter of seconds after it is removed from a hot oven. Aluminum is also ideal for cold food storage applications, such as covering a dish and placing it in the refrigerator, or fully wrapping a dish for storage in the blast chiller or freezer.
When selecting your aluminum foil, be sure to look at the dimensions. The width is important because it will tell you what size cookie sheet it will fit across. The length will tell you about how much foil you have total, so you can calculate how long it will last you. The thickness of the foil, measured in microns, determines whether it can be labeled “standard” or “heavy-duty.”
