When shopping for a serving skillet, the shape is an important consideration. Oval or oblong skillets are perfect for holding fajita ingredients, steaks and grilled chicken breasts. Rectangular models are ideal for roasting meats and vegetables in the oven and taking them right to the table. On the other hand, a round skillet is perfect for serving pizzas straight out of the oven.

To protect the tables in your dining room, you may need to purchase underliners for your serving skillets. Look for wood and wicker underliners in the associated products. If you choose a cast-iron skillet, be sure to care for it properly. Never soak your cast iron skillet in water, and try to avoid leaving soap and chlorine in the skillet for more than a couple of minutes, since it will absorb the flavors of whatever you put in it.
