Glass Charger Plates

While glass plates are attractive, they are also fragile. Look for tempered or heat-treated glass for increased durability. Be sure that the plate or bowl resting on top of the glass has a smooth foot, so it will not scratch the charger underneath. If this is not viable, you can place a thin sheet of paper or a decorative cloth between the glass and the dish on top.
When caring for your glassware, be careful not to clink the plates together, as this can cause chipping and breakage. Use a high-temp dishwasher or wipe the chargers manually to ensure there will be no smudges or smears. Any marks will tarnish the attractive translucence of the glass charger plate.
