Espresso Cups, also known as demitasse, are used to serve both double or single shots of espresso and some of the more concentrated espresso drinks, like macchiato. Espresso cups are generally able to hold only a few ounces. We carry several gorgeous styles that can fit any service situation, from casual to upscale modern. Espresso cups are available either with or without a saucer. Traditionally, espresso is meant to be served plain in the afternoon, it’s a quick pick me up after a big lunch.
Espresso cups are meant to hold a single or double shot, possibly with a tiny bit of foam or steamed milk to make a cortado or macchiato. These tiny cups are a whimsical addition to your beverage service, there simply is no better way to serve espresso. It is advisable to serve your espresso or doppio along with a spoon, because the thick, syrupy sweet part of the extraction sinks to the bottom of the cup, a quick stir will balance the cup and present a better overall flavor. Some people also prefer to spoon off the crema from the top of their espresso as it tends to be a little more bitter than the rest of the brew.
