Even though it varies by type, most wine should be stored at temperatures ranging from 38 degrees to around room temperature. A standard refrigerated unit cannot provide these temperature ranges. Wine also needs the humidity level to be higher than standard refrigerated air, which tends to be very dry. Higher humidity keeps the corks from drying out. Most wine refrigerators also include special shelves or racks for holding the wine at a 45° angle. This allows the label to be easily read by the customer.
