Width is the most important specification to consider when selecting a countertop merchandiser. If the unit is too wide it may monopolize the entire countertop and draw attention away from other impulse buy items. The number of shelves the unit has is also an important purchasing consideration. Most merchandisers will come with at least one or two shelves and have adjustable guides to customize your arrangement. Usually, extra shelves can be acquired as needed.

A final specification you will want to take not of is the temperature. There are units available to store and display refrigerate, frozen and even dry goods. Anything around 0° Fahrenheit will be for frozen goods. Temperatures in the 30 to 40 degree range are meant for refrigerated products, and if there is no temperature information, then it is intended to display dry goods.
