As with other cutting implements, it is important to maintain properly sharpened blades. Dull slicer blades will bruise your food product, so rather than firm, perfectly sliced tomatoes you will end up with a slab of mush. Once cutting and slicing becomes excessively difficult or you notice sliced food quality going down, simply order a replacement blade for your particular tool.
