Coffee urns add a touch of elegance to any buffet line, and they are not just for coffee. Use your urn for serving hot tea, hot chocolate and even hot water. In a pinch, they can also be used for holding and dispensing cold beverages.
Most of these units do not brew coffee, but are designed to hold coffee for extended periods of time, sometimes up to 3 hours at a time. After the holding time has elapsed, be certain to replace the coffee, as it can get cold and stale tasting. As an alternative to a simple insulated urn, you can look for a coffee urn that comes with a fuel holder. These will allow you to keep your coffee warm using the same technology as a chafer.
