The Cambro ice caddies use thick foam insulation in concert with a polyethylene exterior to hold ice for long periods of time. The sliding lid reduces the risk of cross-contamination because the user’s hands will never contact the lid interior. Also, since the lid does not lift off, it will not accidentally be placed on a dirty surface or fall on the ground.
The interior of the caddie has a recessed drain shelf that allows ice melt to pool in the bottom of the cabinet as opposed to melting the bottom layer of ice into one big chunk. The excess water can be easily emptied by a front-side spigot.
