Sample Interview Questions


Try using some of the same questions for each interview you conduct. Using similar questions every time contributes a sense of consistency to your interviews and a basis by which you can make comparisons between potential hires. This can also help you make sure you are not forgetting important questions and that you are questioning each applicant fairly.

  4. Describe your most recent job. What were your major responsibilities?
  5. Why did you leave your last job?
  6. What were the most important skills you gained at your last job?
  7. Are you enrolled in school?
  8. What shifts will conflict with your classes?
  9. What extra curricular activities do you enjoy?
  10. What are your hobbies?
  11. What are your goals for the future?
  12. Do you plan to keep your current job and work two jobs while employed with us?
  13. How much do you know about our concept?
  14. What strengths or traits would you bring to this restaurant?
  15. What does good restaurant service mean to you?
  16. What is a past accomplishment you are very proud of?
  17. Describe your ideal boss.
  18. What are three of your best qualities?
  19. How do you handle conflicts in the workplace?
  20. How many hours would be ideal for you?
  21. In general, what is your availability?
  22. When would you be able to start working here?
