Wok rings transform a standard gas or electric stove top into a wok burner. They are especially ideal for use with round-bottomed woks on a gas, open-burner stove. Simply remove the standard burner grate and place the wok ring in its place. When choosing a wok ring, look for one that is roughly 4" smaller in diameter than your wok. Go by the largest diameter of the wok ring. Finding a properly sized ring will ensure that your wok is positioned properly in relation to the flame. If the wok ring is too small, the wok will be too far from the flame, and if the ring is too big, the wok will be touching the burner.
When placing your wok ring on the stove, the closer to the flame that your wok gets, the better. Place the ring with the small side down and the larger diameter of the wok ring up. This will bring your wok closer to the flame beneath it.
