Plastic models are the economical choice and are typically printed with authentic Asian-themed designs. These models are darker in color, allowing the white of the rice and bright colors of the seafood to stand brightly against the platter. Some of these models, including bento boxes, come with lids so that sushi can be taken home and stored.
 
For a more ornate, elaborate presentation, authentic bamboo and wooden models are available. These creations are left in their natural state, un-stained and sanded to a smooth finish. The light hue of these boards is a simple compliment to the bright colors of sushi and the calm colors of nori and sticky rice. Intricate boats and bridges are available to further add to the art that is sushi.
