Sushi bowls, also known as "sushi basins" or even “sushi boxes” are the perfect vessels for holding chirashi or bara sushi - sushi rice with sushi ingredients like raw fish or vegetables scattered on top of or throughout the rice. A sushi bowl can also be used for a wide variety of other dishes including fried rice or stir fry. When choosing a sushi bowl, the most important factor is the diameter. Seven to eight inch bowls are ideal for lunch-size meals or small suppers. The larger bowls are for larger appetites: the fourteen inch bowls could even serve more than one person in a pinch, or could be used even as serving bowls.
