Pu Pu Platters

Pu pu platters are an American Chinese dish made of an assortment of appetizers. The word "pu pu" is actually derived from the Hawaiian language; it means "appetizer" or "hors d'oeuvre." Popular dishes that you can serve on a pu pu platter include egg rolls, Cantonese BBQ ribs, beef teriyaki, fried dumplings or won tons. A pu pu platter is the perfect tray for serving assorted Chinese, Hawaiian or Asian fusion appetizers. For an extra special table service, serve fresh meats and vegetables on the platter that can be cooked over a tabletop hibachi grill. Many pu pu platters have a compartment in the middle. This can be used for dipping sauces, or to hold a hibachi grill, which is house most restaurants use it.
