Product Details

The 15" Round Economy Pizza Stone (STONE15) is a round, ceramic stone used for baking pizzas.  Baking stones are especially ideal for baking pizzas on because they distribute heat much more efficiently and evenly than metal, so while a metal tray or pan may burn the edges of a pizza while leaving the center cold, a pizza stone will cook the pizza thoroughly and evenly.  This economic and durable ceramic pizza stone measures fifteen inches (38 cm) in diameter by three eighths of an inch (1 cm) thick. One benefit is that this unit is dishwasher safe.

15" Round Economy Pizza Stone is rated 4.0714 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It’s a good product. I think the very expansive brands may be overrated. From what I researched on the net, this product is technically ceramic (as many other stones are). It looks and feels like stone however. The only possible drawback is that it was recommend that you do not heat it over 400 degrees. Going over 400 degrees often will shorten is life. I suppose that may means it might crack someday. Like any other piazza stone you must put it in a cold oven to heat it slowly and cool it down slowly as well. I generally remove the pizza and leave the stone in the oven so it cools slowly.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure. The second time I tried this pizza stone, it cracked in half. The customer service department was great about replacing it. I've only used it twice since and to be honest, the pizza crust is not crispy at all. Not sure if it's my oven - if I didn't have the oven hot enough - but it seems I can only cook one pizza at a time or the bottom is just soft and doesn't brown and I have to take it out because the top already starts to brown. It seems to work better if I put the oven up to 450 and cook it on the bottom rack. Of course the stone does not come with directions so I have had to research online and experiment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The pizza stones are great. I bought two and they fit side by side on my barbecue. I can bake two pizzas simultaneously. Put them on the grill before you light it. When finished making pizzas, turn off the grill and let the grill and stones cool slowly. I have only used them twice but I made about 19 pizzas on those two occasions. Expect the stones to discolor as they will get stained at the temps that pizzas bake. Can't wait to make pizzas again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The pizza stone is the only way to go! You heat it as you preheat your oven, then slide your pizza onto the hot stone, which makes a great bottom crust. Make certain you buy a large enough stone to accomodate your future pizzas. There were no "instructions" with the stone as to how to clean it...so we just scrape off the scraps. It does say it's dishwasher proof though. Great purchase!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cheap, 3/8 inch pizza stone. It gets the job done, but with a little bit longer bake times in my oven than with 3/4 inch quarry tiles. I have it as a backup in case the stone I currently use breaks. Worth it for someone who is looking for a cheap and simple solution for making pizza.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'm glad I read all the reviews. Stones MUST HEAT UP WITH OVEN AS IT WARMS. Don't throw it & pizza in a hot oven, as stone will break. How does one move a limp, raw pizza from counter to stone? FYI, Trader Joe's sells reg. & wh. wheat doughs & sauce.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I know the economy pizza stone is not commercial grade, but for the home user they are great, we have pizza parties at least once a month and the cooking screens we ordered with the stones allow us to make pizzas faster than take out.....VERY happy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had seen this product at other locations at more than twice the cost. Very pleasantly surprised at the quality, as well as performance in use.

do i have to season the stone before i use it plus do i have to preheat oven before use

Asked by: viper
Although some home bakers may recommend seasoning a pizza stone, experts advise against it. Pizza stones are made of porous materials to absorb moisture easily. This is what helps your dough bake up nice and crispy. Seasoning a pizza stone will result in oil seeping into your stone, and will not create a non-stick glaze as it does with non-porous cast iron pans. When you use a wood-fired oven, you heat it up, let it get nice and toasty and then place your pizza inside. The same goes for a pizza stone. Place your room temperature pizza stone into the oven before you turn it on. Set the oven to the desired temperature and allow the oven and the pizza stone to heat up together. This creates an evenly heated pizza stone that is ready to bake pizza efficiently. - See more at: http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/education/how-to-use-a-pizza-stone/c31723.aspx#sthash.9gNXVX74.dpuf -

How does the stone work

Asked by: Buzzy
Pizza stones are used to bake perfectly crispy crusts in all styles of pizza. These stones are used to simulate the intense and even heat of a wood-fired oven. They can be used in a commercial oven, residential oven or even on a grill. - See more at: http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/education/how-to-use-a-pizza-stone/c31723.aspx
