The 14" x 15" Standard Blade Short Handle Wood Peel (2414) is a wooden pizza peel with a rectangular blade that measures fourteen inches (35.6 cm) tall by fifteen inches (38.1 cm) wide making it the perfect size pizzas with medium diameters. Expertly manufactured by American Metalcraft, this all wood pizza peel gives a nostalgic, old-world feel to any pizzeria and is the traditional tool used when cooking with a pizza oven. Wooden peels are better at holding the pizza on the peel and are gentler on the pizza than metal peels whose slick, sharp surfaces can accidentally cut or slice pizzas.

After we bought a pizza stone we realized a peel (I call it a paddle) would be easier to remove the pizza from the oven instead of removing the hot heavy stone (to load & unload the pizza, my wife likes hers done more than me). Don't forget to season it with mineral oil (food grade) before use. You can get the mineral oil at most drug stores. It's also handy to cut the pizza on.
Amazing value, a very solid wooden peel for the price. Upon arrival it wasn't as smooth as I would've liked, but after a quick power sanding I got it extremely smooth with no chipping or splinters. I have very little experience with loading pizzas with a wood peel and so far I have yet to fail with this.
Product is exactly as shown in photo. Good quality. I use it to transfer uncooked pizzas and calzones on to hot pizza stone in preheated oven. A must for homemade pizza. My family prefers our crisp homemade pies to mushy pizzas from local pizza restaurants.
I use this peel for bread more than pizza and I bake bread about every other day. I found the peel to be of quality wood and constructed to allow easier transfer of dough compared to peels I have owned in the past. I would highly recommend.
Both sides of the peel were totally rough. Had to hit both sides with rough sandpaper to get the chatter marks out. Dough and crust would have totally stuck on the surface if I had not sanded the peel.
This wood peel was a great buy. It was light but very sturdy. The only 'complaint' I had was that the edges needed to be de-burred (sanded) before using it. I would buy it again without question.
The wood could have been finished off a little better. It looks like someone made it in their hobby shop. It does the job it's intended to do, but doesn't look professionally made.
