Feed hopper
A wide, bin like entry to feed large amounts of food or other products into a machine. For example, it is the opening where you put the food in a food processor.

Female thread
Mainly on sinks and faucets, the component with the grooves on the inside has a female thread. The component with the grooves on the outside is the male thread that fits with the female threaded component.

Filter paper
Collects sediments and food particles from fry oil in the filter machine during the filtering process.

Flat blade heating element
Provides more surface area for quicker and more even heating of oil.

Flat-bottom
These fryers are generally used for specialty items, such as tortilla chips, that float on top of the oil while frying.

Flavor transfer
Refers to the problem of frying two different foods either together or one right after the other. Particles from one food can mix with the other, transferring taste. Large cold zones reduce this issue by trapping food particles at the bottom.

Foamed in place
Interior sides are built in place a certain distance away from exterior walls and insulation is sprayed into the separation. Insulation fills-in and forms to cavity shape.

Forced air circulation
Fans blow across refrigeration lines circulating cool air throughout the unit.

Forced air heating
Hot air is forced through the chamber of certain concession equipment by using fans. This keeps heat consistent throughout the unit.

Free-float frying
Frying food without use of a basket, especially designed for foods with liquid batter.

Full floating hinge
Hinge that expands as food rises, allowing for even cooking. Used on waffle irons.
Fry tank
Open portion of the fryer that contains the oil.
